What it is

The SEO Endowments and Foundations (E&F) Fellowship program helps place eligible candidates into full-time charitable investment roles with one of our E&F partners. This program focuses on training early career professionals who have developed a specific investor lens from their initial years in investment banking or investment management.

What are E&Fs?

E&Fs are institutional asset managers whose investment mandates serve their charitable mission. 

  • Endowments benefit universities, hospitals, and other mission-critical institutions for public good.
  • Foundations are institutions with defined philanthropic mandates, focused on grantmaking, aligned with their specific mission.

Our program’s partnership with the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association (CAIA) assures you receive the industry gold-standard in training and insights. Participants get the knowledge and preparation necessary to successfully compete for full-time E&F analyst or associate roles. This includes:

  • Access to a mentor/coach
  • Trainings focused on developing technical skills and the E&F investment mindset 
  • Reading materials, training modules, and immersive in-person experiences covering the fundamentals of E&F-style alternative investing 
  • Events to help you connect with peers, SEO alumni, and our partner firms
  • Organized activities that provide insight into a typical day in the field of an E&F Alts Allocator

Who should apply?

This program is focused on training early career professionals who have developed a specific investor lens from their initial years in investment banking or investment management. Candidates should have at minimum one to three years of experience in a finance related field. We work with seniors with offers in hand and first- through third-year investment professionals

You’ll be invited to a series of events designed to create awareness and educate you on the E&F industry and what it means to work as an allocator. You’ll hear from partner firms about their culture, interview process, and their unique approach to investing, while attending panels with professionals working in the industry, have access to a mentor/coach, gain resources for education, and more.

All who meet the participant criteria are encouraged to apply, however, as the program evolves, there may be changes to the requirements. If you meet some but not all requirements, we encourage you to apply for consideration and we’ll reach out with any follow-up questions. The events that are educational will be open to all to create more awareness of the industry.

At this time, we’re not creating a fellowship class. We’ll market job opportunities as they become available by our partners. The program is in its early stages, and as the program matures we’ll aim to create a more formal fellowship class, similar to other SEO Alternative Investment programs.
