Teach
We’re always looking for passionate, reflective math and humanities educators to join our dynamic community committed to propelling motivated and bright young students to their full potential. Instructors play a key role in fostering an environment where students feel seen, supported, and challenged to grow as thinkers and leaders. Our curriculum deepens students’ understanding of foundational concepts in ELA and math, while writing and advisory courses help them articulate their ideas with power and prepare for the transition to college. This is a place for educators who want to make a lasting impact — and grow in the process.
Mentor
SEO Scholars invites committed, passionate college graduates based in New York City, San Francisco, North Carolina, or Miami to mentor motivated high school juniors as they navigate the college admissions process and prepare for life beyond the classroom. Our project-based mentoring model is designed to foster meaningful relationships, build essential life and professional skills, and give students the tools they need to thrive in college and their careers. Our mentors believe in the power of education and play a vital role by sharing their own experiences, offering guidance, and helping students gain confidence in their goals and voice. Join us in expanding opportunities for talented public high school students.
Volunteer
Our volunteers are pivotal in helping SEO Scholars unlock student potential and expand access to opportunity. Whether you’re speaking on a career panel, reviewing resumes, hosting a job shadow, or serving as a fundraising Advocate, your time and perspective make a real impact. We welcome dedicated, engaging individuals who want to support students as they prepare for college, careers, and life beyond. Absolutely! Many of our instructors hold multiple teaching positions with us during the same semester.
SEO classes are currently held in the following locations*:
- New York City: Classes are held at Baruch University and LIU in Brooklyn.
- San Francisco: Classes are held at UC Law.
- North Carolina: While most learning is virtual, community days are held at our host colleges which may include: High Point University, Guilford College, Greensboro College, UNC- Greensboro, North Carolina A&T.
- Miami: While most learning is virtual, community days are held at
*Locations are subject to change. While instructors may indicate a location preference during the hiring process, we cannot guarantee placement in a preferred location.
Instructors are hired on a rolling basis. Fall hiring season runs from mid July through late August. Spring hiring runs from late October through the end of December. And summer hiring runs from late March through early June.

We look for a student-centered approach to teaching, a rigorous and thoughtfully-planned lesson, questioning techniques that engage students’ higher order thinking skills, and a genuine interest in students’ thoughts and ideas.
